coffey was not great in his own end. youre just so far off on that one my friend. he was serviceable in the 80's. in the 90s he was a turnstyle who spent most of his minutes on the powerplay. and do you honestly think that coffey would have scored as much had he been on a different team? thats crazy.
ya he won more rings, but that was cause he had 45 hall of famers on his team. bourque was always the best player on his team, something coffey couldnt boast..well ever. first it was gretzky, then lemieux, then gretzky again then yzerman and then he was a joke of a defenseman for the last 5 years of his career or so.
bourque outscored him, was a better leader, a much better defender and he was always the best player on his team and he never got to play with wayne gretzky and mark messier to run up his point totals. coffey may be top 5 best offensive players from the blue line ever, but bourque is one of the top 5 best all around players from the blue line in history, and a far better hockey player than paul coffey.
