Preview of Tomorrow’s games
Bandits @ Jets – Game 6 – 10:00 am ET - Jets lead series 3-2
Coming into game four, their were two major streaks happening in this series. One was the home team streak, as all four games were won by the home team. Along with that, the Jets had won 2 in a row, hoping to win their third. Only one could continue, and the Jets did their part, winning the third game in a row. It would not be so bad, if the Bandits had actually showed up for the game. Baltimore played a good game, but were unable to solve KC Jones, and that is going to be storyline to watch in game 6. KC Jones has played great in the winning streak, and his play continues, the Jets will end the series at home. The Bandits will need their offensive stars, namely Newman and Deboer to get their sticks going again, like they were in the first two games.

One on One interview with the GM of the Challenge cup finals Bound, Toronto Stars
Although sweeping the series with the Attack, each of the games were very close, playing quite evenly between the two teams. What is it that you think your team had to sneak out with the victories in each of the games?
We have better depth than the Attack do and in the end that was what put us over the top. Alex Watson had a tough series and nobody was there to take the load off his back, he logged 60 minutes a game plus overtime and it got to him. Adam Manery was good for us in the first game, but he struggled in the second and third games and Mulletman Santos stepped in and carried the load. It was that alone that made the difference in the series. Of course Matta kept us in all of those games.
Obviously everyones eyes were on the players involved in the deadline trade, do you think that trade had a major impact on your teams success in this series?
The trade was big because it bolstered our offence, putting Reggie Williams on the opposite wing of Vincent Choi helps us a lot on offense, but overall I feel it didn't make a huge impact on this series. Botelho had just as big a series as Reggie so when you look at it from an overall point of view, it's hard to say it was the trade that put us over the top. From another point of view, would we be where we are right now if we didn't make the trade? It's to soon to tell.
Carlos Matta played unbelievable all series long, never allowing that one bad goal to give the Attack any glimmer of hope. Explaing what he has meant to this team, especially in the last four games.
He's been big, our team has given up more shots than any other team and he stepped up his game to a whole new level. We took a lot of critisicm for making the trade because of the difference between Szatkowski and Matta, but in this series, Matta got the best of Szatkowski. He understands that in the next series he's going to have to bring his game up to a whole new level once again, and we can rely on him to do that.
I'm sure you dont mind the rest before starting the Challenge Cup, and would love to see these two teams beat on eachother, but do you have any personal bias on which team you would like to see in the finals against you?
They're both great teams and one thing I'd like to point out is that the Jets and the Bandits are the only teams who beat us in the season series. There's reall yno preferance as to who we play, all we can do is hope for game 7 triple overtime with plenty of fights.
Finally, you have been quite busy with all the recent signings of all the key players on your roster. How important is it to get the contracts done before the market opens up to the other teams, and were you satisfied with the contracts that were signed in the end?
We have our key players locked up for the future and that's big. Other teams have question marks heading into the offseason, but we'll be able to sleep easy. Our next step is to sign Vincent Choi to a long term deal, then we'll have our front 3 solidified for the next 5 years. I'm also excited about the future for our defense, we have Krever and Silva locked up and they will continue to work better to protect the goalie, whoever it may be next season.
Please join us tomorrow night, as we will begin at our look at the draft for next year, starting out with an interview with a very promising young player Alexei Koivu.
